The content of this unit is about the different ways a teacher can evaluate and test her students, through diagnostic and placement testing, in order to focus her lesson planning on gaps in students' knowledge and to determine what language level group each student should be placed in. I learned that the teacher may be in a position where she would need to prepare her students for an external proficiency exam, such as an entrance exam for a university, or employment or promotion by a company. I learned that progress testing throughout the year will indicate to both teacher and students areas of deficiencies that should be reviewed and that practice exams should be given in preparation for testing throughout the course.
