This unit explained the variety of ways a student is evaluated or tested prior to a course, during a course and afterwards. I learned that diagnostic tests are often given prior to a course to evaluate a students English level to ensure they are placed in the right classroom. I also learned that practice tests and progress tests are given during a class to ensure students are retaining the information they need to and to identify where an individual student may be struggling. Finally I learned that there are a number of external exams that students can take depending on their goals (i.e. going to school in America, going to school in the UK, showing workplace english proficiency, etc.
