In this unit we review a very emotive topic for English teachers; course books. Some teachers love them, others do not. What book to use is a very complex issue, therefore the unit tackles the use of created materials and authentic ones. Teachers usually create their own material so as to suppplement the course book, or also to adapt some activities that their students might benefit more from.
The unit also tells us how to go about choosing a course book, how to analyse it, the different options for book use, advantages and disadvantages of the course book in class and finally examples of materials you can use in your classroom.
