| Frequently
Asked Questions
|
1. Am I eligible to take the course?
We require that you be over 18 years of age and a native English
speaker, or have a sufficient level of knowledge with the English
language; if you are to be a teacher of English, a high standard
of both spoken and written English is needed. By this we mean your
use of English, not necessarily your knowledge of grammatical terminology:
you will cover language awareness on the course itself.
We welcome and receive applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds.

2. What kind of people complete TEFL courses?
We find that courses tend to be taken by a wide variety of people.
For example, we instruct and train a lot of people in their early
twenties, both recent graduates and those who have no university
qualifications, who want to travel overseas. We also accommodate
people in their thirties and forties who either want a career change,
have been made redundant, or are moving overseas with their spouse.
In addition, we instruct and train people either approaching, or
in retirement, and who are looking for something to do in their
free time or who have property on the continent to which they are
going to move. Finally, we have people complete our course purely
to try TEFL out and simply to see if it is suitable. Our course
allows people a clear, well structured and thorough insight into
TEFL, while completing a valuable certificate course, without the
time, geographical and financial commitment of an onsite TEFL course.

Yes, there are many online TEFL courses available and the choice
is a difficult one. Cost is one of the main considerations when
choosing a course and surely all people want to make the best financial
investment possible. Ideally an investment should mature, never
become worth less than it's initial purchase value and really, go

4. When can I begin? When and how do I receive the course? How
long does the course take to complete?
You can begin the course almost immediately, simply complete our
online application form (please click
here for our online application form). We will review your
application and confirm your acceptance on to the course within
24 hours. At that stage we will advise you of your payment options.
As well as these details and along with a letter of introduction
and course orientation, you will be introduced to your online tutor
who will ask you how you would like to proceed in terms of the number
units you wish to receive. All elements of the course and correspondence
will be forwarded to you directly via email and email attachment.
The course has been designed to allow for maximum flexibility.
As long as you complete the course within six months of receiving
this introduction you can work at a pace that suits you. The maximum
number of units you can receive per day is two, so you could theoretically
complete the course within ten days.
In order to get the maximum benefit from the course we recommend
receiving one unit per day. This will allow you to complete the
course in under 4 weeks and will also give you time to fully understand
and digest the lesson before continuing. However, if you wish to
work through the course more quickly, or slowly, the choice is yours.
With each unit you will receive an answer sheet. Simply complete
this and e-mail it to your course tutor with details of when you
would like to receive your next unit. Your course tutor will forward
your requested unit/s along with comments on your previous answer
sheet.
